Regulation Overview Module
This Regulation Overview Module discusses 29 CFR 1910.120 which covers hazardous waste operations and emergency response. It tells the history behind why Congress passed the OSH Act which created the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA, under the U.S. Department of Labor. The module covers information regarding: those industries regulated, how NIOSH assists in rule making, key terms, Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) elements, and the CFR. Finally, an important discussion of what to include in a Hazard Communication Program is given to inform employers about their duties.

| Prerequisites/Audience | There are no prerequisites for this course. This course is designed for all employees who respond to a hazardous materials emergency. As per OSHA guidelines, these people must receive training based on their level of activities at the incident. This particular course is designed for those who are likely to respond to a hazardous materials emergency for the purpose of protecting person, property, or the environment from the effects of the release. OSHA regulations require a minimum of 8 hours training. |
